At the London Museum, we connect people with the lived experience of London. The story we tell is one of place and people, evolving through interaction and exchange. We summarise what we do in three words: We Are London.

With our new location at Smithfield opening in November 2026, exciting things are on the way.

Do you care about public and historic buildings, how they are managed and maintained? If you feel you can make a positive difference and have pride in your work, then this role could be for you.

This is a key position responsible for day-day site operations, maintaining good housekeeping and site presentation across Museum sites. It requires a proactive approach with good attention to detail, whether undertaking housekeeping, building maintenance or general labouring tasks.

Previous experience of working in a museum is not required and you do not need to have any academic qualifications. We are looking for a semi-skilled operative, who is competent across of range of building maintenance tasks and capable of using a wide range of tools and equipment. This is a hands-on role covering the entire London Museum estate giving the successful candidate the chance to work in a variety of buildings.

For more information about this role, please see the Job Description. To know more about what it’s like to work in London Museum and to get some top tips on how to make the best of your application visit: https://www.londonmuseum.org.uk/about/careers/

To apply, please click on 'Apply for this role' (bottom right hand side of this page).  Applications are by application form. The closing date for applications is Sunday 12th July 2026. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an interview on Friday 24th July 2026

If you are successfully shortlisted you will be invited to an interview where you will asked questions to help us understand more about what you share in your application, and in particular to understand how you meet the essential criteria for the role and demonstrate our museum behaviours. You will be asked to carry out a short task to help showcase your skills. Instructions and equipment for the task will be provided on the day.
